Why Is Emissions Testing Required?
Although ozone pollution is invisible, it is a real concern in Connecticut and across the U.S. Vehicles contribute to air pollution, so emissions control systems must be regularly tested to ensure they meet environmental standards.
The Connecticut Emissions Program is managed by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in partnership with Opus Inspection, which oversees testing equipment, inspector training, and customer service.
1.3 million vehicles are tested in Connecticut each year.
